ETCW OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE! November 2nd, 2019 Bring On The Brawl.
November 2, 2019, marked a very special time in the history of ETCW. With the announcement from our very own So Cal Kevin Cruz. The announcement was that he had to retire due to a serious injury that happened at the August Bring On The Brawl during a match between Mayhem, Hunter Wolfe and Matt Raby. The injury that Kevin sustained is very serious as he fractured his face and the doctors told him that if he took any kind of bump or hit, that it could potentially leave him paralyzed or even worse. So with that said and the decision he had to make, So Cal stepped into the ring one last time.
There he talked from the heart about his 15 years run as a professional wrestler and the 6 years he spent in the ETCW. You could see and feel how tough it was for Kevin to give up something that he holds so dear to his heart and everyone else felt that who were in attendance. It was a very special moment for Kevin, his beautiful family, the ETCW locker room and the fans. Tears were shed, respect was paid, and the fans cheered Kevin on and thanked him for his sacrifice through the years as he wowed and entertained the crowd each time he stepped into the squared circle.
On a personal note: I only got to know Kevin during my short time here in ETCW, but I can say this without a doubt, Kevin is first class in any and everything he does. From the moment he showed up to the arena, to coming into the locker room and preparing for his match, cutting promos, and being there for the fans, Kevin gave it his very best and it showed. I personally want to thank Kevin for being that kind of a man and always sharing an encouraging word.
We have a clip we will share of Kevin’s speech that evening. We know you will enjoy hearing from the man himself as he shares his heart. You can watch it here.
Okay, now that we’ve all had a good cry… On with the Recap!
Our first match featured the sick and twisted, Mayhem vs Noah Richards
The match started off with the Mayhem Militia cheering him on as Mayhem locked up with Noah. Richards looked very good in the first part of the match showing the fans he came to wrestle. He had Mayhem down on the mat and gave a couple of powerful snap suplexes before the sinister side of Mayhem began to show. Mayhem quickly got the advantage over Richards as he used the ropes to choke Noah, the corner to stomp Noah and delivered a powerful clothesline that put Richards down on the mat. Mayhem delivered a high leg drop that was on point and went for the pin. Noah kicked out and got the upper hand on Mayhem. He delivered a huge body slam that rocked the arena. Another snap suplex followed and then a pin of his own.
Noah whipped Mayhem into the corner and was going to deliver a huge body blow but Mayhem quickly leaped over him causing Richards to crash hard into the turnbuckle. Mayhem capitalized on this and rolled Noah up for the pinfall using the ropes of course!
Winner: Mayhem
Our second match of the night featured Eli Green vs Smiley with the special guest referee, Ravishing Rex Riley. I’ve said this time and time again but it’s true, these three guys up their game and entertain the crowd like no other. The quick-paced moves they do and the high flying acrobatic move set they have is second to none. This match between Eli and Smiley was just as expected… AWESOME! But there was a major distraction and that was from the Ravishing one himself, Rex Riley. During the match, Rex pulled some comical antics that only he could get away with. First, there was a pillow and blanket incident. He actually got out of the ring, got his pillow and blanket out and took a nap while Eli and Smiley were wrestling. When a pin happened, Riley wasn’t there to count. He was too busy napping. Haha! The second antic he pulled was during a pin and he rushed in to make the count but apparently had to take a very important phone call before the 3 count. Then there was the last antic that broke the camels back so to speak. Rex actually sat among the fans and was reading a newspaper and of course not paying any attention to the exciting match that was going on. At one point a little girl ran over and snatched the paper out of his hands and told him to get in the ring! Haha! The crowd roared and cheered! At one point Riley gave Smiley a chair to use on Eli. Smiley thought about it but in the end, he did what was right and threw the chair out. Smiley and Eli finally got Rex back inside the ring so they could continue their match. Eli got the upper hand and delivered his finisher to Smiley but the Ravishing one was again outside of the ring. Eli had enough and grabbed him and drug him back into the ring. Riley immediately was upset and told Eli he was the official and not to put his hands on him. But push came to shove and both Smiley and Eli knocked Rex for a flip and the match was called. Commissioner Jim Strickland came to the ring and made a triple threat ladder match for the next event in December! I knew this one was going to turn into something huge and it sure has! Next month, December 7th Triple Threat Ladder Match! Make sure you come out and bring someone with you!
Winner: DQ
The third match was for the ETCW World Tag Team Championship. Defending champions, Purely Destructive vs the Country Cousins. These 4 men have battled hard against each other for months now. The last time they faced off, the Country Cousins won and this time it looked like the did again but not really. What do I mean by that? Well, the match was hard-hitting and hard-fought as usual when these 4 get inside the ring together. The Champs were calculating and devasting as they came for redemption from last month’s brawl. The Lumberjack was in rare form as he fought tooth and nail against Mick and Scott and Hillbilly Bigg Joe was sporting some kind of war paint that we haven’t seen before. That is very interesting and is a question we should ask about in a future episode. The Russian Monster and Pappy O’Malley were at ringside for “moral support”. You could see it in Bigg joes eyes that there was something inside him that we have never seen
before. He was fired up and ready to tear their opponents apart! The fans were cheering Lumberjack Lumberjack as he started off the match with Savage. The fans were really getting behind the Country Cousins as the match progressed. Lumberjack Josh showed his strength and power at the start until Savage got the upper hand and started the beatdown. Savage relentlessly gave Josh a beatdown Rogue Nation style. Mick gets tagged in and immediately starts to dissect the Lumberjack. Working on the legs, neck, and back of Josh. Wearing the burly Lumberjack down. Bigg Joe had enough and charged into the ring to help his partner but Mick quickly jumped outside and drug the big man outside with him, delivering a punishing blow. This set up Savage to come in while the ref was busy with Mick and Joe and he delivered a running dropkick to Josh that was pinned up against the turnbuckle. The ref finally got control and was getting Bigg Joe back to his corner. This again gave the Rogue Nation time for yet another diabolical blow to Josh with Pappy and Mick being the ones delivering it. Savage set up Josh in the corner for a big splash that missed as the Lumberjack ducked out of the way just in time. The crowd went crazy as Josh finally was able to make the tag to his cousin, Bigg Joe! He came in the ring still on fire and made quick work of Savage with an avalanche splash to the corner. Scott was thoroughly shaken up by the powerful move and feel to the mat. Joe delivered a big elbow drop that shook the ring. Just imagine how that felt on Scott’s chest. Yikes! But a quick eye rake to Joe was all it took to get Scott away from the clutched of the big Hillybilly. Mick was tagged in and delivered a turnbuckle leaping hammer smash to Joe that rocked him but he didn’t go down. Blow after blow it started to chop the powerhouse down which set Joe up to be double teamed by O’Malley and Savage. A pin pursued but Joe kicked out! Out of nowhere Joe quickly gave Scott a devastating body slam which nearly took him out. Then a double team by the Country Cousins on Savage nearly took him out again. But Savage still kicked out. Mick was tagged in and destruction followed. Josh looked worse for wear and at one point Savage had Josh in the corner waiting for Mick to deliver another punishing blow but Josh moved out of the way. Still the well-oiled machine of Purely Destructive stopped what could have happened in its tracks and Scott made his way to their corner. This gave Josh time to deliver a low blow to Mick which made him see stars. Josh made the tag and Bigg Joe delivered a huge belly to belly suplex. He delivered several more staggering blows to Mick and a front slam suplex to finish off Mick. The ref counted the 1-2-3 but didn’t see Joe using the ropes as leverage for the pin. The ref awarded the Country Cousins the win and the ETCW Tag Team Championship belts. Pappy and his Rogue Nation were livid! The commissioner, Jim Strickland once again came out due to seeing the footage, reversed the decision, and continued the match. Pappy ordered the destruction and it came down! They threw Bigg Joe out of the ring and made quick work of Lumberjack Josh with Savage delivering 2 incredible spine busters that got the pinfall. Side Note: After the match, Mick O’Malley got on the mic and told Bigg Joe he needed to cut the Lumberjack loose because he kept on loosing and get a real partner. Harsh words to hear indeed.
Winner: Purely Destructive
Next up ETCW Cruiserweight Champion “The Rabid Pit Bull” Matt Raby and his Open Challenge. Who was to answer the challenge for the title this time. It was none other than Joseph Knight! This young man didn’t back down from all of the “You’re Not Raby” chants and was very confident in the ring. This match was yet another fast-paced, hard-hitting one that didn’t disappoint. Knight took it to Raby from the start. He looked to be well versed in the technical style as well as the strong style of wrestling. Both of these men wrestled each other hard and delivered some incredible and pinpoint accurate moves that would make quick work of a normal person like Dave Jones. Sorry Dave, I couldn’t resist. Haha! Knight was wearing down Matt in a stretch move and delivered a fireman’s carry flapjack that almost got the pinfall. Matt came back after he was whipped into the corner and dodged the corner spear from Knight which lead to Matt putting on his patented rear-naked choke that was almost lights out for knight. Joseph was able to get to the ropes to break the hold. Matt was starting to set up his Shock Collar finisher then Knight reversed and was setting Raby up for his finisher but Matt got out of it and put on the Rear-Naked Choke which led to a tap out victory!
Winner: Cruiserweight Champion Matt Raby
Side Note: Raby’s former partner Mayhem slid into the ring with the Cruiserweight belt and struck Matt hard. Matt went down from that hit as Mayhem told Raby he was coming for his championship. As Matt was finally getting back to his feet, Mayhem struck again with another powerful blow that took out the Cruiserweight Champion. What will take place next? Come out to our December 7th Bring On The Brawl event and see for yourself!
Last but not least, the Main Event!
The ETCW Heavyweight Champion The Enforcer with the Northern Ireland Champion, the Russian Monster vs Billy “Baby Shark” Marshall and “Mad Dog” Daniel Mulligan.
The big bad Russian Monster started off for the Rogue Nation against the “Baby Shark” Billy Marshall. They wanted to do a test of strength and that they did! Locking up against each other and while that was going on, the ref was distracted with Pappy. That gave Mulligan time to crawl through Marshall’s legs and deliver a low blow to the Russian Monster! Ouch! Not mention there was some finger biting going on from Marshall. These guys don’t play well together! They tried the test of strength again and this time, the ref went to check on Daniel which gave the enforcer time to even things up a bit. Well, that backfired as Marshall saw what was happening and kicked the Enforcer in the head which led to his head raising upward and BAM! Yeah, you guessed it, another low blow to the Russian. If that doesn’t make your knees weak I don’t know what will. The Enforcer was tagged in and got some retribution on Billy. Working on the knee to get the big man down. He proceeded to get Marshall in their corner and as the Enforcer was distracted by the ref, the Monster went to work on Marshall. Choking him with deadly force. The Enforcer got Billy in his grasp as Pappy was up on the apron and threw fire into the faces of both men. The Enforcer didn’t take to kindly of what Pappy tried to do, nearly blinding him. This gave Marshall a chance to tag in the Mad Dog, Daniel Mulligan. Mulligan locked up with the Enforcer and threw him in the corner delivering a huge body splash. He delivered two more which rocked the Enforcer and put him down inside the corner. Daniel worked on the Enforcer with punched and kicks. Beating him and trying to wear the powerhouse down to get the pinfall. Mulligan got to close to the ropes wear the Russian was and he paid for it with the Russian Monster putting him in a chokehold. This gave the Enforcer time to regain his composure and work on Daniel in their corner. The tag was made and the Russian went to work on Daniel. Powerful punches and biting the head of Mulligan was on the menu of the Russian. The big Russian threw Daniel into the ropes and was going to deliver his Russian Clothesline but Daniel ducked and delivered one of his own. Then getting the tag to Marshall. Billy started biting the Russians’ fingers! I guess that was payback for what he did to Daniel. The tag came back to Daniel and he delivered some powerful punches to the Russian that staggered him and finally, he went down. A flying elbow drop was delivered by Daniel and then the Big Top Rope Splash hit its mark on the Russian Monster! The crowd went crazy! Finally, Daniel was able to deliver what everyone wanted to see! The Enforcer came in and broke up the pin and threw Daniel out of the ring. Marshall came in and was battling the Enforcer in the corner. The ref was checking on the Russian and while that was happening, Pappy got the Enforcers Loaded Glove and was going to land the knockout punch to Billy as the Enforcer was holding him. Oh my! Billy was too quick and saw what was happening. He ducked and Pappy landed a thunderous blow to the Enforcer. Knocking him out cold! Billy quickly hooked the leg and got the pinfall on the Enforcer.
Winner: Billy “Baby Shark” Marshall and “Mad Dog” Daniel Mulligan
Side Note: After the match and the Enforcer regained consciousness, Pappy was trying to reason with him but the Enforcer wasn’t having it! He said that for the last two months the Rogue Nation didn’t have his back as they said and what just happened tonight, he was through with the Rogue Nation. He shoved Pappy and was about to punch him until the big Russian Monster stepped in. The Enforcer struck the Monster with feverish blows until the rest of the Rogue Nation jumped in the ring and started beating the Enforcer down. Then some of the locker room came to the rescue of the Enforcer chasing out the Rogue Nation. It looks like the Enforcer is a man without a country now. The Rogue Nation doesn’t want him and the locker room doesn’t trust him so where does that leave the ETCW Heavyweight Champion? It seems that there has been an uneasy alliance that was struck between the Enforcer, Billy Marshall, Daniel Mulligan, and the Country Cousins that night. Do they trust each other? No, but next month at the December 7th Bring On The Brawl event, it will be an 8 Man Elimination 5 on 3 Tag Match. You do not want to miss this!
Well, that’s it for the ETCW November Bring On The Brawl Recap!
Until next time, I’ll see you at the Brawl!
